After doing the set photography for a short film, Father of Curiosity, the director approached me about creating a collage-inspired poster that captured the mysterious patchwork feel of the film's protagonist.
After watching an early cut of the film and reviewing my own photos, I did some sketches and came up with a few loose concepts for the director and producer to go over. They liked the concept that focused in on the main character's upward-focused eye.
After drawing out the poster full-size in pencil, I used a combination of colored pencil, translucent paper collage, digital collage, and digital color manipulation to create the final effect. I included photos from the set as well as screenshots from the film in the digital collage, so the cast and crew enjoyed looking closely to try and find themselves in the final iteration.
A large print of the poster now hangs in the studio office of the director's production company headquarters in the west end of St. Louis.
