This project had its unusual beginning in a facebook community of local cat lovers. Yes, you read that right. Magic City Kitties, the facebook group, is an online community of people in the greater Birmingham area who share photos, advice, and stories both sad and happy. After sharing some of my work that was particularly cat-focused with the group, an admin reached out to me to begin work on a coloring book inspired by portraits of cats from the group itself.

We worked together on creating a release and I worked on collecting posts that were particularly full of personality. We then reached out to the owners of the cats and made sure we had permission to use the image of their cats to work from. Nearly everyone was enthusiastically on board. While I work on the actual portraits, the admin has been handling the actual publication. We look to have this printed on heavy 8.5"x8.5" paper and bound in a beautiful glossy cover sometime this year.
